Symposium: Ten Years with the Stockholm Declaration

On Tuesday 26 January the Living History Forum and the Swedish Minister for Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with the Norwegian Chair of the ITF, jointly hosted a symposium on mark the 10th anniversary of the Stockholm Declaration.

  On the occasion, speeches were given by Swedish Minister for Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Carl Bildt and Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Jonas Gahr Störe, as well as ITF Honorary Chairman, Professor Yehuda Bauer. At the symposium a statement was also delivered by the ITF Chair, Ambassador Tom Vraalsen.

The Stockholm Declaration was adopted by the 50 participating states attending the Stockholm International Forum Conference on the Holocaust in year 2000.
The declaration became the basic document of the international network Task Force for International Co-operation on Holocaust Education, Remembrance and Research , ITF, with currently 27 member states.

The symposium took its point of departure in this declaration but mainly dealt with the future of ít’s areas of interest. Several distinguished experts participated as speakers and as panelists in two panel discussions dealing with the driving forces behind genocides and other crimes against humanity and what significant tendencies there is today in this field of research.
