Race biology and racial hygiene
In 2010 the Living History Forum will start to spread knowledge on the Swedish connection to race biology and racial hygiene. Using historical events as a starting point we shall work with the concepts of sorting and normality.
Together with researchers from different areas we shall ask more in-depth questions and highlight present-day moral and ethical dilemmas. Issues such as skull measurements and sterilizationprogrammes as well as present-day medical debates and the perfect human being as a norm will be highlighted.
We have already compiled a research inventory and a publication on the State Institute for Racial Biology and we are at present preparing a larger project, which includes exhibitions, educational material, and film projects for schools.
We are working with the Museum of Ethnography and Swedish Travelling Exhibitions, among others.
